About Ed O'Riley

Ed O’Riley Photography has been operating in Cape Town for the last 16 years - specializing in advertising, editorial and corporate photography for numerous clients nationally and internationally. Food, portraits, décor, industrial, product, lifestyle, craft and advertising have been the main focal areas. Ed studied Film and Television while still at school, going on to achieve a Diploma in Advertising at the AAA school of Advertising. He then studied Photography at Ruth Prowse and DTP at JC Graphics, before entering the world of commercial photography. Working as an assistant to many photographers – both local and from abroad, Ed learnt skills from some of the best in their field. These included lighting, camera functions, set ups, client liaison, marketing and admin, image transfer, photoshop and backing up in both film and digital formats. Once he felt the push to “go on his own” Ed began shooting for a wide range of clients as a freelancer, before being offered a full-time position as the inhouse photographer for Ideas magazine (M24). He is now the official photographer for Ideas Factory and enjoys working with a variety of private clients on a freelance basis. Ed’s motto is “find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”
